No Negatives in Photo Class

The weekend saw the end of GMT and the beginning of British Summer Time, it also marked the end of the eleven week photography course that I've been doing at Glasgow Met college.  It was a good course, with a real cross section of students.  In the past, you would always aim to keep in touch but never really got around to it but now, with the onset of social network sites, the opportunity to keep in touch is so much easier.

One of my fellow students remarked "What are we going to do with our Saturday mornings now?"  Of course that's not a problem for me, I'll be back at the parkrun of course.  I wont be given up on my phot studies though as I've already signed up for an evening course at Langside College, starting in April, as well as Practical Photography's Digital SLR Skills Bootcamp course!

Cross Training with Kindle and Jo Nesbo

Since my bicycle accident on 5th March, I've not been able to run at all. Initially I could hardly walk and as a result I've missed a few race including: the Lasswade 10miles; the Balloch to Clydebank Half; and, the one I was training for, the Alloa Half.  Looking at the results of these races, some runners have done pretty well and a few friends chalked up PBs.  Well done to all. Me? I've been able to keep up a level of fitness by cycling and training on the Elliptical (aka the cross trainer).  I've got into the habit of doing 65min sessions on the Elliptical and to overcome the boredom, I've been reading my running and photographic magazines.  After running out of magazines, I reckoned that I could read e-books whilst training and invested in a Kindle 3G.  I'd been tyhinking about one for a while and this seemed like the ideal opportunity.  I've been impressed.  I had recently finished reading Jo Nesbo's 'The Snowman' and decided to download a copy of his earlier work 'The Redbreast'.  I haven't been dissapointed and I would recommend both books and the Kindle to anyone.
1hour and 5mins, 646 calories and 7.77 miles later
As far as my leg is concerned it's getting better everyday, I tried a wee run on the treadmill this morning but unfortunately had to quit after one minute.  Never mind I'm seeing the physio on Wednesday, so hopefully the improvement will continue and I'll get back to running in the near future but for now it's the Elliptical, the Kindle and me......

Off My Bike

I had a bit of an accident, coming off of my bike, on Saturday morning.  I ended up bloody and bruised in the back of an ambulance but thankfully no bones broken.  However my left leg is a strange colour and extremely sore.  My walking is also severely restricted so, unfortunately, there is no running for me at the moment but I do intend to be back asap.  In the meantime huge thanks to the local shopkeepers in Glassford Road, the passers bye, the paramedic, the ambulance crew and the police officers who all came to my assistance.
